Local Button Clubs and More

Local Button Clubs In Oregon

Many OSBS members are also members of at least one local club. Local clubs allow for more regular social interactions with other collectors near you. The local meetings generally include monthly educational programs, educational discussions, and opportunities to sell or buy buttons. Plus, you can make friends with others who share your love of buttons. Most of our local clubs welcome guests. If you want to try a club meeting, select a club or two near you and contact the club president listed below.

National/Regional Associations and Societies

Button societies that reach beyond the Oregon borders are a great way to access additional resources, education, and to meet new button friends around the country (or the world). Many members of OSBS are also members of at least one of these larger organizations as well. Because of the large geographical area each covers, most meetings and educational opportunities are done via a video conference.

National Button Society

The National Button Society, or NBS, is a US-based button society that is committed to the education, preservation, and exhibition of buttons. NBS is an excellent resource for button collectors, providing many educational articles and presentations, classes, and publications, as well as a strong collecting community. NBS hosts an annual convention and show in various locations throughout the country; like the OSBS show, these shows are a great place to meet new collector friends and learn more about buttons.

To learn more about NBS and to join, visit www.nationalbuttonsociety.org. An adult annual membership is $35. Additional membership levels are available. NBS accepts online payments.

Membership in NBS entitles you to 4 color educational bulletins per year and access to educational materials.

World Button Association

World Button Association, or WBA, connects button collectors around the globe. Like NBS, WBA is a treasure trove of educational articles and presentations, classes, and publications. One great resource is WBA’s New Collector’s Corner. This is a monthly presentation designed to educate new collectors on the many facets of button collecting.

To learn more about WBA and to join, visit www.worldbuttonassociation.org. An adult annual membership is $15. WBA accepts online payments.

Western Regional Button Association

Western Regional Button Association, or WRBA, was a regional button association that, like NBS and WBA, provided excellent education and resources. WRBA is being dissolved, so new members are no longer being accepted. Some resources are available only to former members, but WRBA offered many excellent resources which are still currently available at their website.
